Angels aren't a common sight in Korea. That's why I'm holding so tightly onto you.

No doubt about it, you're an angel. Light of my life, candle in the darkness, apple of my eye, all those trite phrases it's so easy to spout—and some that are deeper and harder to say. I love you, I want you, I need you.

Of course, I don't use either set. I'm Hawkeye Pierce, moonshine muddled medical mutterer, and I invent my own phrases. They don't say as much but they carry more meaning.

"You're beautiful tonight, Trapper. You're making the starlight in my martini look dull by comparison."

You nod, curls golden in the glow of the lamp.

"What happened? Did you fall out of Heaven?" I ask. It's nonsensical, but I'm drunk, and anyone hearing will put it down to that simple fact.

"No, I was born in the gutter," you reply. In your grin is all the meaning I've been trying to give you, and I know I'm right. You're an angel.
