Radar's Showers
For Aelora and Leigh.
Based on this livejournal icon:
When Radar joined the army, his first act of rebellion was to spread his
showers out as far as possible.
At home, skipping a bath just wasn't an option: his mom was a good,
church-going, God-fearing, soap-trusting woman, and she kept the family in line.
Sweat wasn't an unfamiliar odour—the farm work produced plenty—but letting
it cake on his skin and stay there for days was a new experience. Even out
camping, washing in whatever stream you found wasn't a choice but a habit.
Eventually, his rebellion was quelled by Henry Blake. His company was worth
obedient cleanliness, and he didn't let on to the others, so Radar felt that he
could trust him.
You never could trust the war to leave you alone, of course.
